Title:  Annual Union Cemetery Tour
  • Local Celebrations
Description:  Join the Oshawa Community Museum on Sunday September 7 and take a tour of Oshawa’s largest cemetery, Union Cemetery. Led by Oshawa Museum guides, discover the secrets behind the symbols on the stones, and learn about the societies, organizations, and affiliations denoted by the symbols. What can be learned by reading a stone, and what secrets are still to be discovered?

The tour will begin at 2pm at the front gates of Union Cemetery. Cost is $2 per person, or free for members of the Oshawa Historical Society.

As part of the fall programming, the Oshawa Community Museum is excited to be offering this tour. An annual tradition, every year the Museum explores a new section or a new theme to this grand cemetery.

Union Cemetery is located at 760 King Street West. Established in 1875 by the Oshawa Union Cemetery Company, it is the resting place to some of Oshawa’s earliest settlers. Today, the cemetery appears as a serene stretch of land shaded by pine and cedar.
